Meal Support Participation Guidelines
Hi! We’re so glad you’re here. As with any community space, it’s important to have guidelines so we can facilitate a healing environment for all. Please review our community guidelines:
The purpose of this group is to support one another during meal time; please arrive with something to eat.
Please respect pronouns. For more information, check out this link on proper pronoun etiquette.
This is a HAES-aligned space. Please refrain from comments and/or judgements about bodies, BMI, or weight. We do not use the words “overweight” or “ob*se” as they are harmful to members of this community. Instead, try “I’ve been having a hard time with body image thoughts this week.” For more information on HAES (Health at Every Size), check out this video for a quick introduction or review.
This is an anti-diet space. Please do not voice judgements about your own food, or others’ food. We also do not use phrases such as “bad food,” “good food,” “low-carb,” “clean eating,” “cheat meal,” etc. Instead, try “Eating has been hard these last few days. Some old food rules came back because I’ve been so stressed.”
What happens in this group, stays in this group. While Community Table is not a therapeutic group, respecting confidentiality is important in providing a space for healing.
We ask you to exercise compassion and understanding as everyone is in their own stage of learning and healing.
While we encourage participants to introduce themselves, it is not required. You are welcome to show up, nourish yourself and participate in whatever capacity you’d like.
This is a peer support group, not a clinical group. We will co-create a culture of supporting one another through mealtime. However, if something arises where it is a clear that the individual needs more than peer support, we will let them know and direct them to resources that may be more helpful.
Pets are welcome to make guest appearances. (In fact, we encourage it!)
